Article includes video. At first we install processor - Athlon XP 2100+... Well, now we work on it.What is the idle heat output? About 60W...I think, that for microchip surface only slightly bigger than 1cm2 it is 60 W too much. - surface of processor now heats about 4 times more than iron. Is ABS set on? Yes. So let`s do it - I must unplug cooler. Click... Not long time ago you could be sure that in this situation you will smell burnt sillicon and your wallet could add loss in order of undereds dollars.
Above presented "flamy vision" became strong trump of Intel supporters(just see any forum with theme Intel vs. AMD),on the other hand it was a nightmare of Marketing Department of AMD. And what`s really going on? The point is heat protection - unprotection of AMD processors. Let`s imaginary transfer in time to the decisive moment, which meant so sensible hit for AMD.

Shall we have to use this fire-extinguisher?
V září roku 2001 se na známém hardwarovém serveru Tomshardware objevil spektakulární test "How Modern Processors Cope With Heat Emergencies", In September 2001 very well known hardware server Tomshardware presented test "How Modern Processors Cope With Heat Emergencies". There was removed cooler out of four proccesors in this test and there participated Intel Pentium III 1 GHz, Pentium 4 2GHz, AMD Athlon 1400 and Athlon MP 1200. After fast removing of coolers(which simulated their falling-off when computer runs) both AMD processors changed to smoulder silicon wrecks while Intel processors while CPUs Intelu survived this rough examination practically untouched. It was piquant, because whole "action" was filmed on video with all - for AMD extra unpleasant - "grill" details.

Took fromTom`s Hardware Guide (1996-2002).
Test evoked in interested quarters very wild response - supporter Intelu triumph ("hehe, AMD makes burning processors"), fans of AMD disputed that this is almost catasthrophic scenario (Tom called this situation "worst case scenario"). In my oppinion this test cost AMD very very much - when it was spoken about power of prosessors AMD had strong cards in hand, when it was spoken about prize AMD almost excelled....But...when opponent brought up "burning" (though little probable) deputies of AMD came only with equivocation.
Let`s stop analysis of raised marketing battle in this moment and let`s see essence of problem..
