Der US-amerikanische Halbleiterhersteller Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) will seine beiden Werke in Dresden schneller als geplant mit einer Milliardeninvestition ausbauen und modernisieren. Das sei ein positives Signal für den Standort Sachsen, sagte Ministerpräsident Georg Milbradt (CDU) am Mittwoch.
Danach soll die Energieversorgung der beiden Chip-Fabriken nochmals ausgebaut werden.
Eine Entscheidung über ein drittes AMD-Werk werde im Sommer fallen, sagte Deppe(sef AMD Sasko Fab30 aj Fab36)

YOU DO NOT have to be a wizard to know that AMD's Advanced Precision Manufacturing marchitecture is doing wonders for its own fabs. However, it seems that the APM approach isn't limited to AMD fabs alone, since Chartered made a switch to APM as a part of the ramp of Fab 7, in order to be able to increase yields and lower the cost of production.

APM is a process control which consists of more than 450 patented technologies that enable seamless flow of the manufacturing process from ordering the CPUs to finished chips, claims AMD.

Current Fab7 production when it comes to the AMD side is 2,000 wafer starts per month. This translates to around 1.8 to two million dual core dies per quarter, with an expected ramp to 5,000 wafer starts in summer - between 4.3 and 5 million dual core dies.
Dnes AMD predava 11,95 mil CPU/kvartal, pri 20 000 wafferoch povodnej Fab30 je teoreticke maximum 8 mil CPU(alebo 9,5 mil K7).


Vtip je v tom, ze bezne vytazena tovaren vydrzi vyrabat High end CPU tak 6 rokov a dalsie dav roky s low end potom sa musi prestavat na Flash 200 mil USd alebo nove CPU technologie cca. 1 mld USD.

No dost sem se toho dozvedel,ale je mi jasny kdo neplati zrevotni pojisteni ze ho nevezme ani "specialista".
